Thank you for booking an appointment to see Dr Behar for your outpatient consultation.
This letter sets out some important information that we are required by law to provide to you. This is for your information only and is not a bill. As this letter includes information about our charges, if you do not have private medical insurance but someone else will be paying your bill, you may wish to pass a copy of this document to them. Please note that even if someone else is paying your bill or if you have private medical insurance, you are responsible for paying any charges, which they do not pay.
Appointment Information & Charges:
New patient appointments are up to 30 minutes in length and Follow up appointments are 15 minutes in length. Each consultation is chargeable. This applies to both in person consultations and telephone or video consultations.
New appointments are charged at £275 Follow up appointments are charged at £225
For face to face consultations, please ensure you arrive 10-15 minutes before the consultation to ensure registration forms can be completed.
If you cannot attend your appointment, please inform Dr Behar’s secretary on the contact details above no later than two working days prior to the scheduled appointment time. This is to ensure that your appointment can be offered to another patient. Late cancellation or non-attendance of an arranged appointment is fully chargeable.
Often, a set of diagnostic investigations will be performed and a follow up consultation is required to go through these and any further management that is required.
For some patients with complex conditions or in those who require a second opinion, a longer than usual appointment may be required. If you have prior medical records which you are bringing with to be reviewed, please note that a longer than usual consultation slot may be required. Please discuss this in advance with Dr Behar’s secretary as a longer slot may be required and will be charged accordingly.

All new patients will require a 12 lead Electrocardiogram (ECG) which is billed separately by the hospital – the cost may vary depending on which location you are being seen.
Prescriptions. If you require Dr Behar to provide any repeat prescriptions for ongoing medications, these will be charged at £30 per prescription. The price of the medicine on the prescription varies widely by the type of medicine and can be provided by the pharmacy who dispense the medication.
Self-Funded Patients. Please be aware that if you are self-funding for your appointment, payment will be required upfront, prior to each appointment. Invoices for diagnostic investigations will be issues separately.
Private Medical Insurance: If you are using health insurance to pay for your appointments and diagnostics / treatment, please ensure you have checked the limit of cover on your individual policy. Please also check with your health insurance company any excess you may have to pay to contribute to your treatment. Patients will be responsible for any shortfalls for consultations / tests & treatment not covered by your insurer. We would advise you to get authorisation and to confirm the scope of the cover agreed by the insurance company. We will require an insurance policy number and authorisation code prior to your appointment.
Getting in touch. The practice receives a large volume of emails each day. We will aim to respond to your email within 24 – 48 hours. Please note we are unable to respond to clinical queries or complicated questions by email and you will be asked to make an appointment to discuss such issues. If you have undergone investigations, the results will be discussed with you at the next appointment.
Financial Interests: Dr Behar is legally obliged to inform you that he has no financial interest in London Bridge Hospital, King Edward VII Hospital, Spire Bushey Hospital or One Heart Clinic
Quality Information: You can compare independent information about the quality of private treatment offered at the hospital and other private healthcare providers from the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) website: www.phin.org.uk.
Prior to your appointment
- We will ask for your personal information so that we can register you on our system
- We will also require your NHS GP name and address and any contact email you may have. This is so we can keep them informed as to your clinical progress
- Please send across a copy of the referral letter from your GP if you have one
